2 crews from Bude attended and 4 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat to extinguish the fire in the kitchen.

3 people received oxygen therapy and were left in care of ambulance personnel.

Cooking appliances cause about 50% of all accidental fires, causing 70 deaths and 5000 injuries per year. Chip pans are the biggest single cause of fires in the home. Fortunately on this occasion there was no loss of life but fires of this type at this time of the night can easily end with tragic consequences.
