Over 50 firefighters from St Ives, Camborne, Penzance, Truro, Falmouth, Newquay, Helston and St Just were called to a fire in a derelict hotel yesterday morning.
When the first fire engine arrived the fire had already spread throughout the building and into the roof. They fought to extinguish it using hose reels and jets. The initial report was that someone could be in the building, but further investigation showed the property showed no signs of habitation.
Once the fire was extinguished a full fire investigation took place. Fire investigators and crime scene investigators worked together to determine the cause of the fire was arson.
