Cause of Serious House Fire: Accidental

Treneer Estate, Penzance at 12/10/2007 01:00

Firefighters from Penzance, St Just and Camborne were called to a serious house fire in the early hours of this morning. A specialist vehicle from Falmouth also attended.
When the firefighters arrived the house was well alight.
The occupants of the house, two adults and three children, had already managed to escape.
They were alerted to the fire by working smoke alarms that had been fitted by Penzance firefighters.
The adult male had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire investigation officers returned to the scene this morning. They determined the cause of the fire as accidental.
Cornwall County Fire Brigade recommend that every home has a working smoke alarm. It should be checked once a week.
