Firefighters from Camborne, Redruth and Penzance were called to a house fire this morning at Pendarves Street, Beacon. They were informed that someone was inside the property.
When they arrived the house was already heavily smoke logged because of the fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus immediately entered the property. They fought through the intense heat and smoke to find the occupier and extinguish the fire.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Ted Simpson said: “Tragically the gentleman died in the house fire. These are devastating circumstances for all involved and our thoughts are with his family, friends and neighbours at this time”
He cont: “Following a fire investigation the cause of the fire has been determined as accidental, caused by a cigarette”
