Polruan Firefighters and Cadets Raise Money For Charity

at 10/11/2007 09:00

Firefighters from Polruan Fire Station have recently raised nearly £1300 for the Fire Service National Benevolent Fund (FSNBF)

For the fourth year in a row they supported the charity’s national car wash event, along with other community fire stations across the county.

“Firefighters and cadets from the station reached for their sponges and buckets in a bid to raise funds. This year we were able to use a newly acquired ‘Karcher’ pressure washer thanks to the support of Frank Cheshire of F C Cleaning Systems, Beaworthy, Devon” said station FSNBF representative Peter Hadley

He cont: “Everyone was invited to come and have their car washed and donate money to this worthwhile charity. Over £275 was raised, in a village that doesn’t have any passing traffic! Thank you to everyone that kindly gave their help and support”

The Annual Coffee Morning in August helped raise over £1000 with the sale of FSNBF souvenir goods, cakes, raffle tickets and a tombola, refreshments, games and competitions. This was the second highest total the event had achieved.
