Firefighters from Penzance were called to a house fire this afternoon.
After forcing entry to the house they discovered an elderly lady on the first floor. Tragically she was already deceased.
The first floor was heavily smoke logged, and a small fire was smouldering, this was quickly extinguished.
A fire investigation is now under way.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim.
