Smoke Alarm Saves Occupants In House Fire

Pendour Park, Lostwithiel at 10/05/2003 00:58

Crews from Lostwithiel and Bodmin were mobilised in response to a call to a kitchen fire with person trapped. On arrival it was found that the fire involved a chip pan and that everyone had fortunately managed to escape.

A man had returned home and had put the chip pan on the cooker. He had then fallen asleep on the settee. His partner who was asleep upstairs was awoken by the smoke alarm sounding. She came downstairs to find the chip pan on fire in the kitchen and could not see her partner so she telephoned for the fire brigade. Fortunately she then located her partner and they both escaped. Paramedics attended and as a precaution checked the occupants for smoke inhalation.
