8th March 2008, 10am-3pm in the car park at Sainsbury’s in Truro.
Firefighters from Truro Fire Station’s Green Watch, are holding a charity car wash this Saturday 8th March from 10am til 3pm, in the car park at Sainsbury’s in Truro. The five-strong team will accept a donation to the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, to clean cars in full fire fighter uniform.
Sub Officer Mark Glanville who is organising the event said, “We are taking part in the FSNBF National Car Wash which is held every year to raise money for a very important cause. Local businesses have been extremely supportive and we have already been helped by Partco, Halfords, Homebase, Focus DIY and Wickes who have donated buckets, soap and sponges and of course Sainsbury’s who have allowed us to use a section of their car park again. Now all we need is the public to come along and support the cause!”
Last year the event raised £200,000 nationally and the charity is hoping to smash that target this year, with the public’s help. So, if your bonnet could do with a brush up or your wheels are in need of a wash, why not pay the firefighters of Truro’s Green Watch a visit and help them raise much needed funds for the charity, which assists serving and former members of the Fire Service and their families, offering support, rest, recuperation and therapy.
