On receipt of this call, both appliances from Newquay were mobilised, further resources were requested and the aerial ladder platform from Newquay and an appliance from Perranporth were mobilised. The incident was classified as 'Persons Reported', one person was rescued by Devon & Cornwall Police who were already in attendance, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used a hosereel to extinguish the fire on the first floor, the crew then proceeded to investigate the remainder of the premises and confirmed that all persons were accounted for. The positive pressure fan was used to ventilate the premises. One person was transferred to hospital to ambulance. Arson was suspected. Devon & Cornwall Police will be making further enquiries.
