Fire Stations in the Lizard area are asking for people interested in joining the Retained Fire Service to apply as soon as possible.
The Retained Fire Service is made up of men and women who come from all walks of life and is keen to represent as wide a demographic as possible. As such, the Brigade would particularly like to encourage women and other unrepresented groups to consider joining.
If you can answer 'Yes' to the following questions, then this could be the new career for you:
· Are you physically fit?
· Do you hold a minimum of a provisional driving licence?
· Do you live/work within 4 minutes of the fire station?
Stewart Whitworth, Assistant Divisional Officer says, “We hope to see a good number of applications coming in as we have vacancies at all three Lizard area fire stations – Helston, St Keverne and Mullion.”
Applications are available from Brigade HQ Personnel, call the Recruitment Hotline on 01872 323758 or contact your local station. Completed applications will need to be returned to Brigade HQ Personnel by Monday 9th June 2008 and successful candidates from the recruitment evening will be called to interview at their chosen Station before Wednesday 25th June 2008. The training courses to become a Retained Firefighter will begin in Autumn 2008.
