Firefighters from St Dennis used beaters and two hosereels to extinguish a field that had caught alight when a bonfire got out of control.
General Fire Safety Advice:
NEVER leave a bonfire unattended.
ENSURE the bonfire is a safe distance from buildings, fences, shed, cars or anything else that you do not intend to burn.
ENSURE you have the means to extinguish the fire should it get out of control.
ENSURE you have some form of communication, such as a mobile telephone, to summons the Fire Brigade should assistance be needed.
INFORM Fire Control on 01872 320205 just before you have a controlled burn, so that the unecessary mobilising of fire appliances can be avoided, should someone mistake your fire for a genuine emergency.
Please be considerate to your neighbours and STAY SAFE.
