At 2312 hrs on the 03/08/08, the Brigade received a call to a fire in a vulcanising machine. Two appliances from Liskeard arrived on the scene and a further four pumps were requested to attend from Lostwithiel and Bodmin. Specialist appliances from Truro and St Austell were also sent, including the Brigade Control Unit & Breathing Apparatus Support Unit. (35 Firefighters attended). The fire was confined to a machine where six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the blaze using a foam branch and one hose reel. An Ambulance attended as two workers were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation that were taken to hospital.
