After a call received from a neighbour hearing a smoke alarm from next door, two appliances from Penzance were mobilised. They arrived to find a 1 bedroom flat above a shop lightly smoke filled due to food left on the cooker. They gained entry via a first floor window using a triple extension ladder and rescued a male occupant from the flat. Firefighters used 2 breathing apparatus and a hosereel to extinguish the fire and then ventilated the property.
