Barn Fire

Blunts near Saltash at 26/10/2008 07:04


Crews were mobilised to a reported barn fire which was believed to contain hay, straw and livestock. The crews were from Liskeard, Callington, Saltash and Bodmin. Two Water Carriers from Bodmin and Plympton shuttled water to the incident from hydrants in Blunts village.

Upon crews arrival a barn about 20m x 40m was well alight containing around 100 tonnes of hay and straw, all livestock had been released.

The shed involved in the fire has been severely damaged, and 400 bales are being allowed to burn under control of the Brigade. Crews continue to boundary cool the shed using the shuttled water.
