Large 6 Pump Property Fire

At 10:46 this morning a call was received from a person who briefly reported their house was on fire, that the property had poor access before hanging up. Due to the nature of details passed, two appliances with eight crew from St Just and a second appliance with five crew from Penzance were mobilised to the scene. In addition Fire Control mobilised a water carried with three crew from Helston to the incident due to known poor water supplies in the area. Soon after arrival at 11:11 on scene crews requested six fire appliances attend the scene as the property was well alight. Further fire appliances from Hayle and St Ives were mobilised to the scene accompanied by support vehicles from Falmouth, Tolvaddon and Launceston. In total 52 Fire service staff and 11 Fire and support vehicles were mobilised to this incident. The fire involved the middle section of a property which measured 30 x 8 metres. Soon after arrival the incident was made 'Persons Reported’. Initially crews used four breathing apparatus and two main jets supplied from a nearby river to fight the fire. As resources booked in attendance the breathing apparatus remained at four, but crews used two main jets alongside a covering jet and safety jet. The fire was sectorised and two safety officers appointed, good progress was being made at 12:05 and it was confirmed that Breathing apparatus had changed to the Stage two procedure. Western Power engineers were requested to isolate the electricity supply to the property. At 13:23 it was confirmed that 'all persons had been accounted for. One casualty had self-rescued from the building and was taken to hospital via land Ambulance.
There are no more details available on this incident; a fire investigation will be carried out by Cornwall Fire and Rescue service to establish the cause of the fire.
