One appliance from Newquay was initially mobilised to reports of smoke coming from a manhole in the road, on arrival a further resource from Newquay was requested, the crew confirmed that there was an electrical fire and believed that gas was involved, utility services were requested to attend. Devon & Cornwall Police were also in attendance and as a precautionary measure six properties in the vicinity were evacuated. Cornwall Council's Emergency Management were informed and attended the incident. Cornwall Fire & Rescue remained with the utility service personnel while the area was regularly temperature checked, one high pressure hosereel jet was in use. Crews left the scene shortly after 1100 hours.
