Six pump Property Fire

At 03:40 this morning a 999 call was received to a property fire near Whitstone, Holsworthy. Two appliances from Bude and one from Holsworthy were mobilised to the scene. The property was well alight on crews arrival and a fourth appliance was requested to attend for staffing and water. A fifth appliance was mobilised to the scene from Launceston. The fire involved a domestic building measuring 8 x 10 metres, the property was well alight at 04:06 and crews were using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a covering jet.
Crews from Holsworthy, Bude, Launceston, Hartland, the water carrier from Liskeard, the Aerial ladder platform from Barnstaple are tackling a property fire; crews are using breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the blaze. At 04:59 a request for ‘Make Pumps 5 and Aerial ladders one’ was made from scene. A further appliance from Hartland and Aerial Ladder platform with support pump attended from Barnstaple. Western Power engineers attended to isolate the electrics to the house and an Incident Command point was established. At 05:40 firefighting continued using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one main jet. Good progress was being made with the Aerial ladder platform in use and dam set up; the dam was being supplied by a water carrier from Liskeard. Welfare support was mobilised from St Dennis to the incident.

Update 09:15 The incident is now being scaled down to two appliances. Crews are currently extinguishing and damping down some small areas of fire. Later this morning Cornwall Fire and Rescue service will conduct a fire investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
